Geotextile

Specifications
Details

A geotextile is a strong, permeable fabric used in construction and civil engineering projects to improve soil stability and drainage.

It’s usually made from synthetic materials like polypropylene or polyester and is placed between soil layers.

What does a geotextile do?

Geotextiles have several main functions:

  1. Separation – Keeps different soil layers from mixing
Example: preventing road gravel from sinking into soft soil.
  2. Filtration – Lets water pass through but blocks soil particles
Example: used behind retaining walls to stop soil washout.
  3. Drainage – Helps move water away from structures
Example: under roads or in landscaping.
  4. Reinforcement – Adds strength to weak soil
Example: used in embankments or slopes.
